Codename Blast!

A first person shooter focused on exploration with plenty of items and upgrades to find built in the Unreal Engine!

This project is one of the two I am currently working on to improve my programming abilities on a personal scale, with this project being specifically focused on my ability to work in the Unreal Engine.

The focus on this project is to replicate many of the mechanics found in the game "Metroid Prime" for the Nintendo Gamecube, Wii, and Switch consoles in Unreal for the sake of giving myself a game design template to work with pre-designed so I can focus my efforts entirely in coding.

This will include features such as lock on, strafing, different weapon types and properties, saves, fluid level transitions, enemy AI, and various other pickups and power ups that let the player grow stronger over the course of their journey.

The current plan is to work enough to complete a whole "zone" of at least 5 interconnected levels filled with a few enemy encounters, platforming obstacles, and power-ups to encourage backtracking and careful observation of your environment.

The main challenge here for me is really digging deep into the engine with various different systems and mechanics because of how mechanically deep Metroid Prime as a game is, so it will allow me to explore much of how the engine works to help me learn it much more efficiently

Estimations are currently hard to come by in terms of completion time due to the infancy of this project, however, at the pace I am currently going I can expect to be done with a proof of concept by the end of the year 2024.
